Augmented reality beyond the wow-factor – Presented by John Schavemaker, twnkls | augmented reality

In his keynote John will show multiple applications with AR that companies today have in place that increase process efficiency, convince the end customer and are exceeding by far the status of “gimmick”.

For example: how did Otolift manage to use Augmented Reality and reduce its entire process from sale to installation from 38 days to 48 hours?

Exploring the Digital Twin concept for use in civil infrastructure – Presented by Joep Paulissen, TNO, at Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, on January 18, 2019, at Rotterdam AHOY, The Netherlands.

In 2018 the TNO Unit Building, Infrastructure and Maritime initiated research activities into the use of the Digital Twin concept for civil infrastructure. With the aim of ‘Learning by Doing’ we selected a relevant case study within our context of assessing the reliability of bridge structures.

By connecting TNO knowledge on relevant IT techniques with our domain knowledge on steel bridges we created first relatively simple digital twin of a steel bridge deck susceptible to fatigue cracking. FIWARE, The Open Source Platform for our Smart Digital Future – Presented by Valentijn de Leeuw, 3IF

Valentijn de Leeuw

FIWARE, The Open Source Platform for our Smart Digital Future – Presented by Valentijn de Leeuw, Vice President ARC Advisory Group, Industrial Expert at 3IF.be, Belgium, at Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, on January 18, 2019, at Rotterdam AHOY, The Netherlands.

Digitalization starts with digital representation of physical assets (buildings, factories, transport means, utilities, etc.) and the environment (weather, traffic, etc.) Activities in different sectors need to exchange information about those assets in a meaningful way. This requires information model or data model, which specifies with information is stored where, what its meaning and content is. From Intelligent (IoT) Sensor to Plant Reliability – Presented by Martin Blenkers, IJssel Technologie

Martin Blenkers

From Intelligent (IoT) Sensor to Plant Reliability – Presented by Martin Blenkers, IJssel Technologie, at Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, on January 18, 2019, at Rotterdam AHOY, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The way in which innovation, intelligence and plant awareness are at the center of reliability.

Interview
What drives you?
Our mission is simple, to provide a cost-effective means of managing all the key reliability elements without compromise on quality, plant awareness or integration. It’s mind blowing what you could do when you start to integrate reliability technologies like vibration, oil sensors, IR etc… with process related data. Photonics: key technology for smart factories

Lasers: efficient, sustainable and low-cost manufacturing
Lasers are one of the most widely used photonics tools. They are ideal for manufacturing strong lightweight constructions, such as wind turbine blades or crash-safe car chassis. But also the production of batteries, fuel cells and solar cells requires laser technology. And every semiconductor chip today is manufactured using optical lithography, a form of laser technology. Photonic sensors – Key application areas

Photonics is a key enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT). For its implementation the IoT relies heavily on sensor technology. Sensors need to be small, robust and energy efficient to be embedded in machines, appliances, buildings and infrastructure and succesfully collect data over large periods of time.

Fibre optic sensors – manufactured using photonics technology – are not only more sensitive than existing electromagnetic sensors, but also faster operating, better able to withstand harsh conditions and immune to electromagnetic interference.
